Back to School can be very hectic and stressful for parents and students alike. We hope to help make this year start off cool and collected. We’ve compiled a number of resources for you to get your family ready for Back to School. Our FREE community Back2School Bash is Wednesday, August 16th @ 6:30 pm with food, inflatables, and tons of fun.

August 4-6: Tax Free Weekend
Shop for tax-free school supplies, clothing and more at participating locations.
August 5: Back to School Bash
When: Saturday, August 5, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Where: Tulsa Tech-Broken Arrow Campus, 4000 W. Florence (corner of Olive & E. 111th St.)
The Broken Arrow Police Department, Tulsa Technology and St. John Broken Arrow are sponsoring this event. Services and items offered at the event include: school supplies, haircuts by Tulsa Tech Cosmetology students, a community health fair presented by St. John Broken Arrow, tips on school safety by BAPD, and more. August 12: Back to School Expo
When: Saturday, August 12, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: The Exchange Center at Expo Square, 4145 E. 21st St.
Hosted by Mix 96.5FM, K95.5 FM, News 102.3AM, Eagle 103.3FM, and Spirit 105.7FM, this is “the largest FREE back-to-school event in northeast Oklahoma.” Offering free haircuts, free backpacks/school supplies (while supplies last), free entertainment and more, this is a “one-stop shop” for all your back-to-school needs. August 13: Boys, Books, Barbers & Backpacks Barber Cut-Off
When: Thursday, August 13, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
Where: Greenwood Cultural Center, 322 N. Greenwood Ave.
Boys in K-8th grade can receive a free haircut, refreshments, a backpack with school supplies, and a book. Pre-registration is required. Register online here, or register on site on Saturday, August 12, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
August 13: Ministerial Alliance Back to School Bash (Sand Springs residents)
When: Thursday, August 13, 2-5 p.m.
Where: Tulsa Technology Center’s Sand Springs Campus, 924 E. Charles Page Blvd.
This event for Sand Springs residents includes free: backpacks/supplies, haircuts, dental checks, flu shots, free hot dogs and more. Plus, plenty of entertainment! Read more here.
August 15: Back-to-School Community Resources Fair
When: Tuesday, August 15, 9-11 a.m.
Where: Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Rd.
Start the year off right with information, school supplies and services from nearly 40 community organizations. Children must be present to receive school supplies. For ages 5-18.
August 16: FREE Community Back2School Bash
When: Wednesday, August 16, 6:30 pm
Where: Bixby’s First Baptist Church, 114 E Breckenridge Ave, Bixby
Community event with food, inflatables and fun!
August 19: Rock Your Locker! Back-to-School Crafting Event for Teens
When: Saturday, August 19, 2-4 p.m.
Where: Maxwell Park Library, 1313 N. Canton
Come to this crafting class and make gadgets and gizmos to help keep your locker organized and styled to the nines. For ages 10-18.
August 20: Park Plaza Jenks Back to School Bash
When: Sunday, August 20, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Jenks West Elm Building F, 1251 W. 91st St.
Park Plaza Church of Christ is hosting a fun Back to School Bash where everyone can come together and celebrate the beginning of the school year. Expect games, food and fun! Go here for more information.
August 22: After-School Teen Hangout
When: Tuesday, August 22, 3-5 p.m.
Where: Helmerich Library, 5131 E. 91st St.
Play board games, make crafts or work on your homework. Sponsored by Friends of the Helmerich Library.
August 26: Back-to-School Essentials for Adults
When: Saturday, August 26, 9:30-11 a.m.
Where: Hardesty Library, 9316 E. 93rd St.
Learn about free tools the library offers for adult learners. Get tips for searching the catalog, explore databases for periodical research, discover online tutoring options and more. For adults.
August 27: Bixby Gives Back to School Bash
When: Sunday, August 27, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: Charley Young Park, 50 W. Dawes Ave., Bixby
Join the Bixby Library, city of Bixby and other area agencies for a fun-filled event at Charley Young Park, featuring food trucks, music, free bounce houses and free children’s activities! For all ages. Read more here.

Shirley is married to Bob Pittenger who is the Community Groups Pastor at the Church at Battlecreek in the Tulsa Metro area. Shirley holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Baptist College of Florida. She enjoys teaching in the youth group, singing, reading, studying God’s Word, and spending time with her family.
